PSacramento you are correct again. Yes the NWT has several "adjustments" in translation to make it appear 607 is correct, in my own research into this I've noted them....and showing JWs "other" bibles is never a good way to show them anything as we are conditioned to believe the NWT is SUPERIOR.
Sadly you are likely correct in your view that doing this from the bible is a waste of time, however I will be doing just that with my familly at the relavent opportunity.

I know that PSacramento, I was just looking for a bible based method of disproving 607 theory as JWs will be more likely to pay attention to the information than from other sources...
The argument of biblical chronology vs secular chronology is a false premise as you have said.
The vassalship of Jehoiakim is distracting this thread anyway and has no effect on the 607 vs 587 outcomes, I pursued that point because I thought I had it correct, but do not any more.

Yes I know this has been done to death, but there's lots of newbies here lately and I doubt many will trawl thru all the old threads on it so it's worth rehashing every now and again I think. Plus I happen to think this is the most fundamental point in disproving any authority the WTS claim once and for all.

my niece, a very sweet girl, an active jw, e-mails my wife from time to time, she lives in another country so she only gets to the u.k once a year at best.. she e-mailed the other day after returning from the jw wedding of her niece, my great niece.
she expressed the feeling that it was sad for her that we were not at the wedding ,and that our relationship has changed.
we were not invited to the wedding, and only knew when it was being held by deduction, nobody told us for sure.. i want to tell her how i feel, so i tought i would let her know that we are still the same people, we still love the family, and especially her, as we always have.
If email is your primary means of comms with her then it seems reasonable to use that if face to face is not likely.
Your para 2b, 3 and 4 above sum it up pretty well tbh. If she gives you the opener of saying it was sad for her that you were not at the wedding,... well then take it. Tell her how hurt YOU are at the whole situation. (nicely of course)

I was going along with the WTS reasoning on Daniel 1 that the 3rd year stated there of Jehoiakim may have (only may have in my mind) referred to the 3rd year of his vassal kingship being his final 11th year. This was based on the maths given above which kind of lends itself to that conclusion. Plus with me doing all the mental gymnastics this 607 debunking involves it's easy to just take the 1st reasonable position one comes across and to go with that.
That being said Daniel 2:1 puts the kybosh on that. Anyone read the WTS laughable explanation of this in the Daniel book p46 paras 1,2? It is sadly pathetic.
Linking 2 kings 24 in makes sense to me yes. A rereading of Daniel 1:1,2 seems to indicate similar. More reading required me thinks... And again thankyou for your excellent input on this forum.

as some of you know, i am an elder in a southern england congregation.
the britain branch ( policy letter dec 8th 2007) stopped all hlc brothers giving talks at other congregations and as a result the take-up of the advance directive form (ad) has dropped dramatically.
jws are presenting themselves at hospitals without the form and nhs staff are phoning the hlc to ask that an elder visits to help them compose it while in hospital.. the uk branch is asking hlc members to meet up with bodies of elders so that we can "educate the brothers" (their expression) - we had our meeting a few weeks ago with a couple of the hlc brothers.
@blondie: The congregation used to be encouraged to make out the Directives and give a copy to the Secretary. Not sure about now but this was the case a couple of years ago.
It bothered me then. This a supposed to be a personal decision and the form contains personal conscience matters,... so WHY does the secretary NEED to have a copy of it? The wording in the KM articles (UK) gave the impression "MAY" give a copy to the secretary, but in the meeting items themselves it was always made out to be a requirement.
I gave up carrying a blood card years ago and refused point blank to fill in the AD form.

i am new to this site, just finding my way around.. i've been studying with jw's for about 15 months.
i'm an unbaptised publisher, and until recently never missed a meeting, have been out "on the service" quite a lot.
i've been having difficulties with one of the jw's studying with me and something happened which was just unacceptable.

You are lucky and have caught yourself in the nick of time.
I was born in and baptised at 16 and have only recently in the last 2 1/2 years or so done PROPER research into my religion and discovered it's a CULT and have now finally left this year in my 40's. Many others here are similar some even in for many decades more. We have to deal with the realisation we have wasted our best years on a false premise and faulty chronology.
Call it a lucky break and be thankful you have the chance to THINK properly and do your research before commiting.
